An Apple A Day !!!

We just finished our Apple Unit up last week!!!  The kids had such a fun time learning all about apples!!!  We read some great books: How To Make Apple Pie, The Apple Pie Tree, Apple Farmer Annie.    We also made our own class book Who Stole The Apples From The Apple Tree ( great idea from Deanna Jump!!) The kids loved it  with a picture of our principal  at the end.  Don't worry parents-- if you haven't seen it- you will soon :)!!

We started with graphing our favorite kind of apple to eat!!
After tasting our apples we created an Apple Bubble Map to describe our apples.

Next, we put our apples on our trees outside the room for display!!  Mr. Shehane and Mrs. Jessica's class did this also!!!
We added our apples together.  The trees outside our room and adding our favorites was an idea from Deanna Jump ( she has the best items at her TPT store)!!!
We painted "fingerprint" apple trees.  This was so much fun!!

 Our finished apple trees!!
Then I took the kids pic with their favorite apple!!!  Isn't this little guy a cutie!!!  I cut and pasted them to an apple cut out and wrote at the top" I'm the apple of your eye"!!!  Can't wait to give them to parents!!

Finished apple projects!!

Almost forgot our apple patterns!!  We sorted and did patterns for math!!

The letter O was last week.  The two pics above are our art project for O---making cheerios in the shape of the letter O.

Animal Picnic and Shapes

Ok- third time should be a charm!!! If you know me stop laughing- it's true- I'm starting a blog!!!  The world's most computer challenged teacher is starting a class blog.  My goal for this year is to incorporate more technology into my classroom- and so far- so good!!!  I hope this is a great way for parents to get a peek into the room and share some of my ideas!!! So, here we go!!
We started with a Wild Animal Unit( we have 3 kindergarten's at our school and we do our units together).   The kids brought in their favorite Wild Animal from home and we did lots of activities all week with them.  Science: what animals need to survive.  Math: graphing and sorting.  Reading:  we did lots of books but my class favorite was We're Going On A Bear Hunt.  Our animals magically disappeared at the end of the week and we had to go on a school hunt to find them!!!  The kids loved it!!  At the end of the unit the parents came for a picnic to eat with their child and their Wild Animal!!!  I know all my pics say 2004!!! A funny glitch my camera has ;(

Some pics from our picnic!!

About

I've been teaching on and off for 7 years.  I know it sounds crazy  ( on and off teaching ) but I stayed home for a few years to be with my sweet babies.  Who aren't babies anymore!!  I have two little ones:  Gunter- who is in the 1st grade this year -- and Hannah: who just turned 3.  I have been married to the same great man for 10 years and everyday is an adventure!!  I love my sweet little family and our small town life that God has blessed us with, I couldn't make it one day without my great friends, and I love my job!!  I am truly one blessed girl!!
